To ensure efficiency in undertaking and administering clinical trials in Queensland, QCTN has established an independent HREC focussed on the needs of members and sponsors seeking to undertake trials in the State.

SOS (Staff on Site)

Managing resources and workloads is a difficulty faced by all industries, however, with international competitiveness, the tight timelines imposed on work in the clinical trials’ sector, coupled with the shortage of skilled staff, clinical trial sites often find this extremely difficult to manage. To address this situation in Queensland, and its industry-wide flow on effects, Queensland Clinical Trials Network Inc. (QCTN) has established a staff deployment service - SOS (Staff on Site).

 


 

TrialChecker - safeguarding subjects in clinical trials

The primary purpose of TrialChecker is:

  • to safeguard the safety of volunteers and patients (subjects) by avoiding inappropriate simultaneous participation in multiple trials or too frequent participation;
  • to safeguard investigators and/or clinical research organisations by providing another level of checking the eligibility of the volunteer or patient (subject) prior to trial participation; and
  • to increase general public awareness of clinical trials.  

 


Institutional Biosafety Committee

Independent IBC

Increasingly, leading-edge, first-in-man therapeutic research is being performed in Australia making use of the high-tech facilities and world class expertise. It was for this reason, that Australia’s first independent Institutional Bio-safety Committee (IBC) was established by QCTN to assist members and sponsors undertake early clinical research involving genetically-modified (GM) products.For information about QCTN's Independent IBC, please click here.
